Question:
DID ANYONE ELSE SUFFER FROM....
LOOSE BOWELS AT 2 MONTHS OUT? IT SEEMS LIKE SINCE SURGERY I HAVE LOOSE BOWELS ALL THE TIME. WHEN I DUMP I HAVE A DIARHEA, WHICH I EXPECT. BUT DOES THIS GO AWAY IN TIME? — Gale G. (posted on October 31, 2002)

I used to have massive diarrhea every time I ate anything with more than 10
grams of sugar in it. Now, at 19 months post-op, I am able to enjoy sugar
in moderation and hardly ever have diarrhea or any other tummy discomfort.
Don't worry - it DOES get better.

Yes - I am 7 weeks post op and have not had a "normal" bowel
movement yet and lots of painful gas. I guess it takes time.

I had loose bowels for about the first 2 months post op, then I started
only getting them when I was releasing fat. It's a loose bowel movement
that comes with stomach cramping and the smell is the most awful thing you
could imagine. Now, at 5 months post op my bowel movements are relatively
normal, although I do have the smelly b.m. maybe once every month and a
half now. So you see, it does get better. I am still bothered with a lot of
gas though. So I keep the tums or Maalox handy.
