Question:
Has anyone p.o. used diet programs that use herbal pills to speed up metabolism, etc?
What effect does it have on post-ops? Just wondering... Take care and God bless, Reenie — Reenie K. (posted on October 30, 2002)

I have used them to aid in my workouts. Which is 30 minutes on a stationary
bike, 30 mins of weightlifting, 1 mile run in the morning and Kung Fu
classes at night (usually about 2 hours). Talk to your doc first and never
use the full dosage to start out with. And if you notice any ill effects
STOP!!!!
These pills have helped me maintain an activity level needed for the sport
that I am in. I wouldn't advise them for boosting metabolism. Many people
take them and never exercise and even worse they flat out abuse them. They
aren't as evil as the media and class action lawyers would have you
believe. Just be smart and talk to you doctor first.

Not Post op, but am a nurse, and have tried these pills. My advice-avoid
them. Most contain MauHaung(?SP) and alot contain ephedrine or a mixture of
both. They speed up your heart rate, above normal. They are very
dangerous-worst side effect-heart attack!! Some people swear by them- I say
they do maore harm than good. Check with your family doctor if you are dead
set on using them!!
