Question:
Teachers returning to work after LAP RNY
Hi everyone. I had LAP RNY surgery on October 1st and went home on Oct. 5th. I had gotten sick in the hospital and was throwing up some of the food I was eating. It is now Oct. 21st and I returned to work today (I teach 4th grade). I haven't been doing that well with getting my fluids/protein in and seem to feel like I want to vomit every time I eat, even if it is the food I know I usually can keep down. Is this psychological? I am really worried because I don't want to end up back in the hospital. Did I come back to work too soon? Thanks for listening! — Heather H. (posted on October 21, 2002)

Hi - I teach 8th grade and went back to work after 2 1/2 weeks. I never
had any problems with nausea though (thankfully!),so I can't really answer
your question. Just wanted to support a fellow teacher!!

I had nausea for several months after RNY. I was a substitute teacher
during recovery by the way. I used phenergan 12.5mg. This is such a small
dose that I did not get tired but it relieved the nausea. Good luck.
