Hi there. I just started soft foods a week ago and can at least give you
the guidelines that my doctor said to stick with. You should work up to
4oz of soft foods three times per day. You should also continue your
protein shakes until you consistently get 40-50g of protein through food
alone. I have been doing a protein shake for breakfast- 1 scoop per 4oz of
skim milk. I then drink water until 1/2 hour before lunch. For lunch, I
will typically have 4oz of lowfat cottage cheese or 4oz (of 6oz container)
of sugar-free yogurt (no fruit chunks). Will continue to drink water the
rest of the day. For dinner, I will either have a scrambled egg, 4oz of
mashed potatoes, or 4oz of a non-chunky soup. I have also had 2-3 saltine
crackers with a meal. Some of the other things that my doctor suggested
were (remember- up to 4oz only): Cream of Wheat, blended oatmeal,
sugar-free pudding, lowfat soft cheese, and sugar-free applesauce. I have
additional guidelines for adding more foods as the diet progresses if you
are interested. I hope this helps!
