Question:
Any one ever go through a crunchy food stage?
After the pureed/soft food stage my doctor has us on a "crunchies" food stage. That includes potato chips, doritos, crisp bacon, crackers, etc. Anyone else ever hear of this? — Tina C. (posted on September 30, 2002)

WOW! A Dr. that not only condones carbs but also has a whole stage devoted
to them??!! Where do I sign up???? ;-)
Seriously though, I've never heard of that. I think for crunchy things,
I'd rather do the bacon, beef jerky, pork rinds, peanuts, soy crisps
ect...that has protein or crunchy veggies and fruits like apple strips,
baby carrots ect.. than get into the habit of eating chips and doritos.
Good Luck to you!

Yes, I'm in a crunchie stage. My doctor suggested having Special K ceral
with yogurt over it...you can also sprinkle dried egg whites over it for
more protein. I also have some saltine crackers in the house for an crunch
attach... But I have never heard of the food you write about being
recommened...would seem to be too high in calories.

My surgeon forbids chips of any kind (or at least tries to). Of course
some patient's don't listen. He does allow us to have a few crackers but
not many. I'm 10 months out and I do not eat chips at all. I eat soy
nuts, peanuts, and Grape Nuts cereal softened with grape juice (doctor's
orders for increasing fiber). Believe it or not the Grape Nuts are good.

For the cruchies, I like the Soy Crisps (gotta get that protein in) and
also the Kashi Go Lean cereal (gotta get that fiber and protein in)...JR
