Question:
How soon after open RNY is another surgery ok?
I am not currently involved with anybody, and haven't been in a while. I know that I do not want any more kids. I am 38 and have a 19 year old and a 7 year old. I had my surgery on May 2nd, and have lost 80 pounds and still have about 89 more to go. I want to get my tubes tied in the event that I someday do get involved in a serious relationship, I don't want to risk getting pregnant. Would my body handle another surgery so soon? I'm in no hurry to get it done, but just curious. I will talk to my OB/GYN when I go there too. Thanks for any insight... — candymom64 (posted on September 21, 2002)

Since it's been over 4 months since your surgery, you should be fine, but
you should ask your surgeon and OB/GYN. However, if you decide to have
some plastic surgery when you get closer to your goal weight and it's not
covered by insurance, you might want to get your tubes tied at the same
time as your plastic surgery so the insurance will cover almost all the
hospital and anesthesia charges. That's what I plan on doing in November.
My arms need to be finished and it's considered cosmetic so I'm having my
tubes tied at the same time. It will cost me the plastic surgeon's fee of
$1800 and about $500 for the hospital. That's by FAR better then paying
the entire hospital charge - which when I had my tt was $11,000!!!
(Insurance paid for that one!!). Good luck to you.

Since your not in a relationship right now you might want to wait a bit.
What if a wealthy just right guy came along and thought you were fantastic
but wanted a child? Just somnething to think about.....
