Question:
Sipping - How quick is too quick?
I am so confused. I have no idea how often I should take sips of liquid. How long should it take me to finish an 8 oz. cup? Please help. I want to know how quick is too quick! Thanks in advance! — Samar M. (posted on September 13, 2002)

Samar, I am now 4wks post op and I can drink 8oz (which I think is a cup)
in less than a 1/2 hour. When walking outside, I can drink it in less than
10 min. However, this only pertains to water...when speaking about srstal
light or a glass or milk, it is a full 20 minutes or so. Good Luck.

Samar,
Judge by your body. If you drink too fast you will get small pain in your
pouch. I tended to use a straw for the first month or so, helped me limit
how much I drank. But don't worry, you won't damage anything if you drink
to fast, you will feel it for a few minutes then the fluid will drain out
of your pouch and you will be better. It truly is a trial and error thing,
and each day will get better and you will be able to drink more than the
previous one.
