Question:
I am 6 weeks post op, I have lost 50lbs, I am still in the same size pants, how long

before you started going down in sizes?    — Lisa W. (posted on September 8, 2002)

I feel your pain on this issue. The plus size clothing industry really keeps us fat. It took me right around the 50 lb mark to move down a pants size. I started out a 28/30 which really sucked. Most pants are 26/28 or 30/32 so the 26/28 was small and the 30/32 were to big (let me over eat all the time because I had room in my pants to spare). The smaller you get the less you have to lose to move down a pants size. I am now 3 months out, have lost 70 lbs and am down to a 22. It took me 50 lbs to move one pants size and then 20 lbs to move 2 more. Go figure. I have not been able to figure it out. Good luck to you. I know you don't want to hear this but it will happen it just takes time. Your pants have to be loose by now. What a wonderful feeling. All of the sudden one day you will try on a smaller size and it will fit and probably be to big.

I think it really matters how you carry your weight. I was 304.5 5'5 day of surgery, size 24 pants, I am now 3 1/2 weeks post op , down 26 lbs, and I am SWIMMING in the size 24. I can now get into a 22. People loss weight in many different ways. Almost all people loss it first (or seems most noticeable) in the face. Don't fret, it'll come...Good Luck.

Hey I know what you mean, I have lost 61 lbs. and have only gone down one size in pants, only if they are stretch. I have gone down at least 2 sizes in the tops, of course it does all depended on the manufacturer. I did start water aerobics about 2 wks ago, and I can say that I now have droppy underwear, so hopefully a pants size will be coming off soon. I can wait till the heat is gone and I can try on some long pants, hopefully at least one size smaller.

Most everyone post-op I know has gone through this. Try different brands too; if I wear a size 20 in Faded Glory jeans I am usually a 16 in Wrangler jeans. I look like a pear right now- Ladies' large shirts, but size 18-ish pants. My waist is small- only my abdomen will not fit in the smaller sizes! Skirts are a great solution... I can get into a size 14 skirt... but no way could I wear size 14 pants! Good luck- Shelli

Hi, frustrating isn't it? When I had lost 30lbs i was suprised i could still wear my pants. Ya know if i had gained 30 they wouldn't have fit!!! anyway...I found my waist was the last measurement to show significant loss. today at 60lbs down and 30 away from goal i still "think" i should be in a smaller size. Guess it will happen when i least expect it to....just to be sure i should probably go on the treadmill bettter then this computer!!! LOL. good luck!
