Question:
I am considering usin BTC in Wylie to have my surgery and
I was wondering if I need to have a PCP before going or can I just see the surgeon? I currently do not really have a PCP and if I do need one will they provide me with one? I will be on a PPO plan. Thank you in advance! — Jan D. (posted on September 4, 2002)

Hi! I had my consultation with BTC in Langhorne on June 7, 2002. I have a
PPO and went without a referral from my pcp so you should be fine w/o
having one. In fact my pcp doesn't even know I'm having the surgery yet.
Good luck and God bless!

I'm having my surgery in Wylie, TX at the BTC and nope, you don't need a
referral from a PCP. They will require you to talk to a patient rep first
and have their information sent out to you and then you can call and make
your appointment with the surgeon. As far as them providing you with a
PCP, probably not. Most likely they will advise you to call your insurance
company to provide you with a PCP in your area who takes your insurance.
Good luck to you! ; )

Thank you Stephanie and Rebekah for the information. This makes me feel
better knowing I don't have to have a PCP first. Best of luck to the both
of you in your WLS experience!
