Question:
Has anyone experienced internal abscesses following bariatric surgery?

I had my 1992 VBG revised to RNY on 12/13/01. In the nine months since then I have been treated for three internal abscesses. One abscess required surgery and the other two were drained via CT-guided aspiration. The latest abscess is in my liver and caused me to run a 103 degree fever for two weeks. Two of my doctors have speculated that a micro perforation somewhere in my plumbing that went undetected in the standard leak tests is responsible for the infections. None of my Docs know for sure what's causing me to have these internal, abdominal abscesses. Can anyone provide information to help me solve my problem?    — Joseph P. (posted on August 31, 2002)
