hiya, congrats on your surgery!
i've heard that a lot of docs want their patients to use sugar free
vitamins, mine didn't, i took regular flintstones with added iron and it
didn't bother me at all. i got tired of the taste tho and now use centrum
chewables (orange flavored) that i got at walmart. for calcium citrate
(make sure it's not calcium carbonate like tums) i use citrical, again you
can get it at walmart.
good luck to you!

Hey Gale, good luck, I 'll be following you in 18 days. The hairloss
vitamin is biotin and you can find it almost anywhere. I got mine at a
military commissary. They also say to take zinc. That the combination
works together. Again, good luck!

I am pretty sure that the flintstones vitamins do not come with a sugar
free label. But I do not think they have sugar listed as an ingredient
either. Check the label.

Hi, i take Flinstones Complete with no trouble what so ever. They are what
my doc wants us to take and I don't even know what the sugar content is but
I know they do not say sugar free anywhere on the label. Good luck with
whatever you decide.

hi there :) i take flinstones chewables i didnt know they made sugarless.
ive never had a problem with them except if i take them on an empty stomach
i would get the dry heaves. i had open rny on feb 8 02 and have just been
cleared for regular swallow vitamins now. i just today found biotin at
walmart. i found 2 different bottles one mentioned nothing about hair and
the other had hair right on the front of the bottle so thats the one i went
with. ive always had a very nice thick head of hair but it has thinned some
and i hope this stuff works :)

My doc recommended kids's chewables, but with Iron. I have found several
brands--target, walgreen's etc make a chewable with iron. I haven't seen
any that say sugar free and the 3 brands I have (target, walgreen's and
flintstones) don't list sugar on the label.

Looks like you got lots of good advise about the vitamins, but I will add
that the nutritionist that comes to our support group, says take one
vitamin in the morning and one near supper. This is an absortion issue.
Like many things, we have to space it out to make sure we are getting the
full benefits. As for the hair, I recommend the following. Regular hair
cuts, a good conditioner(even the leave in kind for an hour or so once a
week. Also, anesthesia and certain medicines are very hard on the hair, I
use a clarifying shampoo about once a month to remove build up, meds, etc.
All of these should help but some people will still loose hair but I have
never seen a bald patient yet and it does come back. Our bodies react to
change and this is a drastic change. But getting your hair in the best
condition you can will definitely help.
