Question:
Cost of plastic surgery?

Does anyone know if any plastic surgeons will give a price break to people who have had gastic bypass surgery? I am from the Philadelphia area.    — Susan H. (posted on August 26, 2002)

I totally doubt it, but the fact you lost over 100 pounds and have excess skin could be considered medically necessary and your insurance will pick it up. Make sure you submit your case to the insurance even if you don't think you qualify.

Highly doubtful. Also remember, you get what you pay for. I've seen some people who've had plastic surgery and look 10 times worse now then before they had the surgery due to the plastic surgeons they went too. You need to look at pictures of there work, talk to there patients, there nurse, see how much time they spend with you (should be AT LEAST an hour and a half). I truly feel like I lucked out with my surgeon. I was going to go to a different one because I heard good things about him. However, he wanted to put so many scars on me that it made me uncomfortable. I ended up going to a plastic surgeon who was in my insurance network once they approved me for my tt and have never been so thankful. I tell him this EACH and EVERY time I go in to see him. The procedures he has performed have been much less invasive then the other doctor wanted to do so I have much less scarring. I can tell he truly cares about how I'm going to look after surgery and has discouraged me from getting other procedures done because he just doesn't feel that I need them. That's the sign of a good and caring doctor who wants the best for his patients rather then his wallet. He even called to check up on me in the hospital 2 times (I was an outpatient) and made the nurses go in and check on my bandages and report back to him how they looked. Then he came in early the next morning to the hospital before he went to the office to change my bandages himself rather then have the nurses do it. I was EXTREMELY impressed by that. He won me over completely after that.

If you end up self pay you might consider going out of the US. I had an abdominoplasty w/ lipo done in Mexico and am thrilled with the results. An A+ surgeon at a quality facility for 1/4 the cost it would have been in the US. Just something to keep in mind.

I don't know if mine routinely does, but he did for me! I was refered to him by a normal sized person who wanted a tt due to a roll from pregnancy- he charged her $3000.00 plus the room etc. Mine was much more extensive and he only charged me $2000.00, but I also had to pay for the surgicenter ($1600) and anasthesia (900). When I first went to him, I showed him a before picture and he was "wowed". I believe he gave me a great price. He did a great job too:) Good Luck!

$83,000 and change. Full body lift, breast lift with small augmentation, arms, face, chin, neck, and inner thigh. These repairs were 4 different surgeries and occured over a 12 month period of time. Worth 10 times what I paid...I was so worth it...for once in my life I came first.
