Question:
The skin on my legs above my ankle up to mid thigh is pinkish red. Why is that?
It doesn't hurt, but never goes away. — mari C. (posted on August 18, 2002)

Hi, I think maybe what you are seeing is chronic venous insuffiency. It
comes from the viens in the lower leg breaking down somewhat and not being
able to pull the blood back up into the leg, therefore it is pooling in the
lower leg. This causes swelling and redness to the skin. What helps to
get that blood back up the leg is compression stockings, excercise like
walking and keeping your legs elevated as much as possible. Hope this
helps you!
