Hi Irma,
Thought I would asnwer your question, I'm 9 weeks post op and enjoy beef
jerky totally, but stay away from the sugary kind, honey bar b que and of
course the hot ones, I did this a couple if times, just depends on the
brands that u buy, some will have a little fat, that no matter how much you
chew it just dosn't seem like it'll gone down without a problem, again just
different brands. Onto the Chex mix, I tried a couple of them, one was a
berakfast chex mix and it had way too many sugars in it, the other's are
just too tangy of a flavor for me, but here I am eating chex out of the
box, It's addicting let me tell you,.

Hi Irma - I totally agree with Dawn. I do well with both, but make sure
you really chew the beef well. Some of the varieties of beef jerky are
very sugary as well. - Mike

Ohhh...I wish I could have meat. My surgeon's post-op diet does not allow
me to have any red meat until I hit my 5th month. I so wish I could have a
tiny, little cheeseburger! But I have heard that beef jerky is a good
protein snack. [12.5 weeks post-op, down 66 pounds!] :o)

I get a brand of beef jerky called "Jack Link's". I get it at Wal
Mart. You can get the normal beef jerky strips or they also have Jack
Link's beef jerky NUGGETS. I personally prefer the nuggets. They are easier
to chew than the regular strips. Jerky is a great source of protein, but as
others have said, watch the sugar content.

I'm with Kim! I love the Jack Links. But I can't do their Peppered jerky as
it is way to spicey. I love Jack Links mesquite (?) or barbeque. Regular is
good too. I started eating it at 8 days post op, although I was'nt supposed
to be eating anything but pureed. ;) I chewed it until it was liquid. Then
I'd only have just the smallest sliver... just to make sure I did'nt throw
up or have it swell in the stomach. Then gradually I'd increase it. I never
had a problem. As far as the salt in it, I don't add salt to my foods so I
did'nt feel that would hurt anything. And the Chex mix, I don't see where
that would hurt at all. HOWEVER, I would'nt eat carbs (Chex Mix) without
having protein with it. I think without protein WITH carbs... your body
turns it into sugar??? I know the dietitian always said to have protein
with my carbs.
