Go to the gallery and click on WLS MEMORIAL. It will take
you there. Are you sure you want to read it?

I went there, and to be honest I found it strange that I saw the words
"pulmonary embolism" several times. This si something I am going
to research this further. I will admit, it definetly scared the hell out of
me...

Pulmonary Embolism is not exclusive to Weight Loss Sugery :

I just wanted to comment on the memorial. After having gone through my
consult and am anxiously awaiting the next step, I have enjoyed all the
highs and lows expressed on this website. I just found out about the
memorial a few days ago, and was a bit frightened by the stories. Then
today I remembered that I was comfortable with the surgeon's statistic that
1/700 patients die from complications. I guess what shook me was that
suddenly, that .2% had names attached. All I can say now is God bless those
who have passed away, and those of us who are pre-op must continue to press
on toward our goal. I hope this helps someone else who may have been
"scared" once they read the memorials page.

If you take time to read all of them you will see that most of them are
complications which could happen after ANY surgery. Some of the people
memorialized even died while WAITING for their surgery due to complications
of their obesity. Since the major risk is the obesity itself those who died
did not die in vain. They saw a real solution to a life-time of pain and
they chose to take a very big step towards recovery. Unfortunately for
whatever reason, it was not to be. God bless them for their efforts.

Amazing how hard it is to find the memorial. How come it's not on the
navigation bar at the top of the page?

Click on "Map" to find anything that's not at the top of the
page. Like the BMI calculator, the weight loss estimator, the memorial
page, Before & After pics, etc. That's what Map is for ... so
everything doesn't have to be at the top of the page. Amazing how easy
that is. :D

It's pretty easy to find anything if you go to gallery at the top of this
page. As someone else said, map at the top of the page also leads you
almost anywhere on the site.
