Question:
Where can I get Pamphlets or information to give family members..
I am trying to find some pamphlets/literature for my Father. He is very old fashioned and of everyone in my family is the person with the most doubts and conerns. Is there some kind of information made specifically for loved ones having surgery? I want to show him something, but he doesn't need to know every little detail. I know as much as there is to know (I hope) so I don't want to give him something that really mentions too many risks or complications. I know that stuff, I don't think he needs to. I don't want him to worry is basically the main thing. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance you guys are great! — Female C. (posted on July 23, 2002)

There is a GREAT explanation of how to treat different levels of obesity on
the Nation Institutes of Health Website:

You might try purchasing Barbara Thompson's book..."Finding the Thin
Person Inside" I bought it and it's great. You can go to her website
at www.wlscenter.com to find out more information on her book and also
print of excerpts of the book there too I think.

hiya
check out: www.obesityhelp.com for info
you can also do search on yahoo for "gastric bypass" and you'll
find lots of sites, some by docs, some by patients and you can cull a lot
of info from there
good luck!

Hi! This is a great question. My family is also like yours where the less
they know about the actual surgery the better off they will be. Bariatric
Treatment Center has a great information booklet that they will send you
for free. Even though I didnt have any questions I passed the booklet onto
my parents because I felt the material was "soft" reading for
them. http://www.bariatric.com/
