Question:
Do I need an official diagnosis?
I am 18 months post-op and after reading about PCOS on this site so often, I am almost certain I have/had PCOS. The thing is, some or all of the symptoms I have can/could be a result of medication. Anyway, I guess I'm wondering if it would be worth trying to get an official diagnosis. I mean, is there anything that can be done? I've already lost about 105 pounds and I feel much better. I've had a hysterectomy, so no problems with menstral cycle... Is it worth pursuing? Thanks, Maria — Maria H. (posted on July 8, 2002)

Absolutely! Latest research on PCOS shows numerous health risks including:
premature heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes (insulin
resistance), and more. Check out the PCOS Association site online, too.
