Question:
Are all sugar grams equal?
I am pre-op and already training myself to read labels etc. when I grocery shop. When I look at a label at the sugar grams are they all equal? I know that sugar causing dumping in many post-ops but wondered if it was just the quantity of sugar grams or if it depended on the food, simple sugar versus complex carbs etc...? — Lisa G. Wellll, not exactly after RNY. Sugar (simple) will fatten up ANY of us,
pre-post, any model surgery. Complex carbs are processed a little
differntly, so RNY malabsorb them TO A DEGREE. They're not quite as deadly
as simple sugars for us, Those are lips to hips, no digestion required.
Some people dump on simple or complex carbs or fats or drinking with or too
soon after food. Are you asking whether sugars will mess with your wt loss
or make you dump? I figure if it does make me dump, it'll make me round
again. And if it doesn't make me dump, it'll make me round FASTER.

On the lable if it said 6gms of sugar or more per serving I would dump up
to 4 months out. Now about 6 mo out I can probably eat 8 gms out I can go
as high as 8 gms. I dont't do that very much as I don't like that feeling.
I think it is like swatting a dog with a paper, after awhile we learn to be
good :-)
