Question:
Anyone been denied from BTC for having Blue Choice POS?
I have gotten my approval from Blue Choice POS for me to go to a doc at BTC in Holland, MI. I called BTC, to schedule an appointment, and they told me that they have a stack of approvals from BC POS but, when it comes time for the people to have the surgery, BC POS denies the surgery at the last minute. So, because of this, they didn't let me schedule an appointment, even with a referral from my PCP. I have seen, on this website, that Blue Choice POS has covered this surgery. BTC told me, that BC POS does not cover the surgery through BTC, because BTC is not in BC POS network, even though, I have the policy that anything out of BC POS's network is covered 80%. So, if anyone has had the surgery with this ins., in west MI., and if it was covered, please e-mail me to let me know if you had your surgery at BTC, or through another doc from some where else, and let me know who he/she is, and exactly where he/she is located. Thank you very much. — Katherine M. (posted on June 26, 2002)

I went to this page,
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/showdocs.phtml?State=MI and found
the Michigan surgeons. If you list on the "view comments" section
for each of them, you will get a list of insurance companies that have paid
for the surgery with them. I found two with Blue Choice the first is in
Port Huron. His name is Akram S. Ali. the second is Donald Scholten, in
Grand Rapids. If you click on the blue letters for the insurance name, you
will be linked to that patient's profile. Maybe you could e-mail them for
help. Also, you can get the surgeon's number from these pages. This is all
found on the "find a doc" page. Hope this helps. Good luck!
