Question:
One week post op and having very loose BM's...Normal??

I'm one week post op and am having very, very, loose BM. Also lots of gas. The BM's are like 2 or 3 times a day. I'm thinking this is because all I am consuming is clear liquids...just wondering it this is completley normal. Thank you for your help...Erin    — Erin W. (posted on June 25, 2002)

It is very, very normal. For the first two weeks post-op it was like everything just went right through me. As soon as I began eating unpureed food I was regular again and have been ever since. Don't worry it's just your system adjusting. Surgery 3/6/2002 -71lbs since surgery, 121lbs total.

Very normal. I am 2 weeks post-op. Although I do not have them as frequently, all of mine are very loose and I have the gas also. It seems to be letting up the past few days though. My doc says its normal

Hi, i'm 3 weeks, and still get them, so I hope i'm normal, too! :) You're fine! It will take time for the gas to clear as well. My family has seen a new side of me! LOL

I had the exact same thing happen. However, I found something that really helped. I used Imodium AD. It stopped the loose BM's. This was on my surgeon's list of approved meds. The best part is the caplets are absolutely the tiniest pills I have ever seen. They went down without any problems at all. Good luck! If your surgeon approves, give it a try. Shelley
