Question:
How long before weightloss slowed down for you?
Hi guys, I'm 5 months post-op and I've lost 100lbs so far....I've always lost approximately 20lbs per months, but over the last 2 months, I lost 10 lbs in each....I know it's normal for the weightloss to slow down, but when did your's.....and if so, how did you pick it back up again? Thanx a bunch! ~Jen~ :) — Jennifer M. (posted on June 24, 2002)

Jen, I have gone from 244 to 147 in almost 9 months, I can't really say
when my weight loss started slowing down, but I do know it was before I
wanted it to, lol! I have started using FitDay.com to help me with getting
off the last few pounds. It is sort of a personal diet tool. It keeps up
with my calories, fat, carbs, and protein for me. It also keeps up with
the calories I burn in activity each day. There are comparison charts so I
can 'see' how I am doing and there is a journal for me to write my thoughts
in. I have only been using it for a week but have lost 3 lbs during this
time that I don't think I would have lost on my own :) I wish I had found
it sooner, I might be at my goal of 135 by now if I had. I have a link to
my page at FitDay.com on my bio here if you want to take a look at it.
Good Luck!

Those of you who are using Fitday.com. What is your normal calories, fat,
protein, for losing weight. And what for maintaining.

Fay, I found my personal requirements at
http://ivillagehealth.com/tools/healthcalc, it's a pretty neat site for
info like that. I usually try to keep my cals between 1000-1200, fat below
45, and protein anywhere above 70. That is not exactly what
ivillagehealth.com recommended, but is somewhere between them and what the
doc and dietician recommended.

Mine slowed down at month 5 too. However, I wasn't losing 20 pounds a
month!! That only happened for about the first 3 months and then I went
down to 10 pounds per month and now, 7 1/2 months out, I'm down to about 6
pounds a month. Granted, I only need to lose another 20 pounds so I
expected it. I have increased my exercise a bit just so the weight loss
doesn't stop completely.

Hi, I am a few days shy of being 11 months post op LAP RNY, and my weight
loss has slowed way down. I have lost 165 lbs in the past 10 months and and
this month I lost maybe 5 lbs. I am 30 lbs from goal. My surgeon said this
is normal as the body adapts to the calorie intake, and adjust to the rapid
and large amounts of weight loss. I wanted to be at goal by my year
anniversary, but at this rate I doubt I will make it. But I am happy with
the loss, and haven't been this size in years. I'll take that and run with
it :)!!

My weightloss slowed down at around six months post op. Then I got really
discouraged and began eating the way I used to before surgery. I gained 8
pounds. I have since lost that but am stuck again at 154. I have 20 pounds
to goal and it feels like it will take forever to lose it. I am less than a
month from my 1 year anniversary and wanted to at least be at the 100 pound
mark by then. We will see. Good luck and stay on track because you can gain
weight back.
