I did a little research on this site for you. There is a great page called
"find a doc". If you follow the links you will get a listing of
surgeons in CO. I then clicked on each name and searched the insurance
listings for them individually. I found 2 doctors that have accepted
medicaid as payment. The first is Dr. Richard Tillquist in Englewood and
Dr. Otteman in Ft. Collins. I know very little about the geography of your
state. However, if it means getting it covered, then you may have to
travel. If you want more info about these 2 doctors then go to this page
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/showdocs.phtml?State=CO and click
on each name (in blue) individually. You will then have access to insurance
information and members comments with links to their profiles and e-mail
addresses. You can also get these surgeons' phone numbers and locations.
(One of the members' that had surgery lives in WY (with Wyoming medicaid
but had her surgery with a CO doc). You may also check neighboring states
by going to the "find a doc" link at the top of any page and
checking for the specific state's doctor list, then checking each do
individually to see if they have had medicaid pay for surgery. Hope this
helps. Shelley

I wanted to comment on Dr. Otteman of Ft Collins. He was not my surgeon as
I found a local doc, but my family doctor highly recommends him. He says
that Dr. Otteman has been in this business forever and is very competent.
Unfortunately, when I was referred Dr. Otteman also had a very long waiting
list.

Hi Lydia, the best thing to do is to call the offices, and ask. Dr.
Otteman (Fort Collins) may be a great surgeon, but when I called to get my
first consult I was put on a 4 month waiting list judt for the initial
appointment, then she told me after that it would be almost 18 weeks to
schedule the surgery . And I was told by his office that he only does
open. Well needless to say I wanted this surgery done sooner then that, so
I went to Dr. Tillquist (Englewood), saw him within a week of calling, had
surgery 6 weeks later, and had it done LAP. The man is an awesome surgeon.
Look up on the link Find A Doc, call his office and ask to speak with
Eilleen, she will let you know if they accept Medicaid and if they do she
will help you get the process rollng. Good luck to you!
