Question:
why do i have this pain in my back?
I have one spot in the middle of my back on the right side. sometimes it hurts, other times it feels numb. sometimes when i eat it's worse. it just feels like a giant circle area. not low enough for kidneys. — candymom64 (posted on June 6, 2002)

I don't have an answer for you but I do experience the same pain. For me it
happens 90% of the time when I eat and lasts about 20-30 minutes. Since the
pain seems to go away as my pouch empties I'm waiting for my 6 week follow
up with the surgeon to ask why this might be happening. I'm a little over 4
weeks post-op now.

i'm sorry i do not have an answer for you either, but i wanted to say I
experience the same pain. I am only 1 week post-op and feel heaviness in my
chest as well as back pain that is basically on the right side. I don't
know how far post-op you are though, but I was sent to the ER and checked
for many things, including pneumonia and pulminary embolism, but it was
negative, thank god. Sorry i cannot help. but you are not alone in your
pain.

This could very well be your gallbladder. I had open RNY on 4/5/02 and
gallbladder removal on 5/14/02, but my pain was and still is in the middle
of my back and in my abdomen around my belly button. They think it's
pancreatitis and I'm waiting on results from an MRCP. The point I'm trying
to make is that gallbladder pain, or in my case pancreas pain, can present
itself differently from one person to the next. It might not hurt to have
it checked out. If it gets intolerable, please go to the ER. That's what
I did and they gave me great pain medication. Good luck!
