Hi Dana.I have BCBSM community Blue. I haven't gone for my first
consultation yet, but heard that this insurance is really good as long as
you have all your medical records and a letter of medical necessity from
your PCP. There are many people on this site that have gotten approved for
surgery that have that same insurance. Good Luck! :o)

Hi Dana, It is my experience, if your Dr. is with-in network, BCBS gives
the list of requirments and it is up to the Dr. to make sure he covers
them. If he follows the guidelines, your surgery will be covered. I also
have BCBS Community blue and have talked to Lisa in the Lansing office.
She is very helpful. Answered many of my questions and is working on
getting some of the out of pocket expenses covered. Hope this helps.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan is one of the best insurances to get
approved for WLS. My wife had BC/BS and had no problems. I had Anthem BC/BS
of Indiana/Ohio and it was a nightmare. As long as you go to a
participating provider, and meet basic requirements, BMI of 40,
comorbidities, etc, it is usually a breeze. However, BTC is considered
out-of-network and it is harder to get approved through them.
