Question:
The

I have had a case of stress incontinence as long as I can remember. I remember it being so funnny that I was 10 years old going through all of these testing, having them all tell me how obese I was as a little girl and then having them come up to no conclusion about what the cause of it was. I knew exactly what the cause of it was. I hate it now. To be completely honest and personal, I hate the feeling of being not clean. My husband does, too. I am loking to see if anyone would have any suggestions on how to remdy this "uncleanliness" feeling. Some of you say Poise Pads and I have never tried them. I hate the feeling of wearing a "diaper". Thanks for your help!    — sammygirlwpc (posted on May 25, 2002)

Just to let you know that most of the pads that are used for U/I are no bigger than a reg. sanitary pad, and, for that matter, a reg. pad may do the trick. They even look like a reg. pad. The diapers that you speak of are more for people who have no control at all, including their bowels.

5 years ago I had surgery to correct my stress incontinence. This was way before I had WLS. I suffered with this for years and I know exactly what you are going through. Everytime I would laugh or cough or sneeze I would pee my pants..it was aweful and I had to wear big pads everyday. Finally I got insurance and went to see a urologist. He suggested a sort of bladder lift and tightening up of the muscles. I had the surgery...and have never had the problem again. I know now that having WLS helps with this problem but back then I didnt even know about WLS. HTH

Don't feel like you are the only person that has this problem. I developed it after my son was born, at 21y/o it isn't the most pleasant thing to keep maintence on but the key is to try to use the restroom often so your bladder empties often and the "Poise" are the same thing as Menstral Pads. But odor is controled by using "Summers Eve" femine spray or wipes in between your showers. They are pretty cheap and hide in purses well. I would recommend trying the therepy used in GYN offices that uses Kegal/Electrical techniques by this tampon looking thing connected by a cord to the technicians laptop computer. It shows the strength of your vaginal - bladder muscles and uses biofeedback with the therapy to strengthen the muscles preventing surgery. Good Luck
