Hi, I have United Healthcare PPO and was approved in less than a week. They
were great, I called and asked if the surgery was approved and they said
yes, if medically nessecary. I also asked if there was anything I could do
to help the process along and they were very helpful. I would call them and
set up a file with them. I had surgery Feb. 5, 2002 and have lost 58
pounds! United Healthcare paid all except my 1500. out of pocket expenses
(I used an out of network doctor). Good luck!

I just found out Friday that I was approved for the DS. I have UHC-EPO. My
information was submitted on May 1st and the reason it took as long as it
did on the approval was they were waiting for the cert of coverage to come
from my employer. As long as you have no exclusions you are all set :-)
Good luck!

I have United Healthcare PPO and they have been great to work with. It
really depends on your policy. Mine pays 90% and I am using a doctor in
our network. Once my doctor sent my letter of medical need, it was a
couple of days and I was approved. Good Luck.

I also have UHC-PPO. I'm in Texas. I didn't have any problems at all.
Our UHC insurance went into effect on 4/1/02 and I had BTC - Wylie send in
my infor that day. UHC had to wait to get prrof of our benefits also but
after they received the information I was approved promptly and received a
call from my UHC rep. She went over some things I should no but being that
I've researched this for over a year I was aware of everything. So far I
have to say UHC has been great!

UHC approved me right away. I was kinda insulted that they approved me so
fast.

I have UHC options PPO and was denied due to a written policy exclusion.
If your insurance was in place after 1-1-03, more than likely you will be
denied, that is what I was told. I am trying to see if my company will
exempt me from this exclusion, which I doubt, but I will try. I am also
trying to see if there is a individual policy I can obtain in the state of
Texas that would cover WLS.
