I'm not a doc. or nurse but I think stoma is the opening into your stomach.
Please correct me if I am mistakken y'all.

If I'm not mistaken, the stoma is the opening from the pouch into the
intestines.

A stoma is any surgically-created opening... so, in WLS, the stoma refers
to the opening from the pouch to the intestine, just as Patty Butler said.
(There are lots of other kinds of stomas, of course-- G-tubes and ostomies
and so forth...). Good question!

a bellybutton is a scar & nothing more. it serves no useful purpose.
when u r a fetus ur lifeline is attached from ur mother to u at mid
abdomen. when u r born & the cord dries up & falls off, u r left
with a 'scar' (bellybutton).
