I have had three surgeries in the first 14 months after my original open
RNY. I had a complete staple line disruption wih the development of
marginal ulcer on stoma that perforated and caused peritonitis as well as
spread to the backside of my liver. This resulted in my first revision,
done by my original surgeon, to repair the broken staple line by
transecting the stomach.
My second revision was done by a different surgeon in a different state in
early Feb. I had an atonic pouch meaning that the pouch had enlarged and
was unable to move food through the stomach, stoma and into the intestines
properly. My pouch was reconstructed, my hiatal hernia .. massive in size,
was repaired,my two incisional hernias were repaired, severe adhesions were
carefully cut and removed from several major organs, three feet of
intestines were removed due to being damaged from the earlier episode of
peritonitis, and more intestines were bypassed to make me very distal..
I feel wonderful and life couldnt be better.. gets better all the time..
I have lost 186 pounds and continue to lose.
Take care
