Question:
I think I might have a large stoma....
It seems I can eat more than the average weight loss patient. Today for breakfast I had one ego waffle and 1/2 a banana. I ate it all in about 10 minutes. I am only seven weeks postop. I don't think I even felt full. I also very rarely feel hungry, but when I do a small amount of food does seem to satisfy me. I can eat a four ounces of cottage cheese or drink a protein drink and feel satisfied for two or three hours, so I'm not sure what is going on. I'm going to ask the doctor on my next appointment. I haven't started really solid foods like meat unless it is ground, chopped or shredded. Is there anyone out there who has a large stoma or felt they could eat a lot, but still lost weight? How about anyone who never vomited or got anything stuck? — Lisa N M. (posted on May 5, 2002)

I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but, there are days
when I feel like I eat entirely too much, days when I do just right, and
days when I can't eat anything. It just depends on the type of food and
how fast I'm eating it. Discuss this with your doctor and maybe chart your
food - keep a food diary so he/she will better understand where you are
coming from. It may not be a stoma problem at all. Good luck and God
