Question:
Anyone know anything about
I am almost 7 weeks post opp from open ryn and I carry most of my weight in my behind and my legs. While talking to my doctor about how to get the weight to come off of my legs he told me the best thing to do would be deep massage therapy. To do this he said to take a rolling pin and let someone roll my legs almost to the point of hurting. He said that I have a lot of celluloid(?)(my legs are hard, not flabby) and this would help to break it up so that it could be lost. Does anyone have any information on this subject, as in - does it work, how often are you to do it, how long does it take to see any results, etc. Any information would be great. Thank you! — Tammy M. (posted on April 10, 2002)

I don't mean to question your doctor but the rolling pin to point of
discomfort sound questionable. I would get ahold of a reputable massage
therapist in your area. If this is true they would know. I have always
been told once a fat cell is there it's there to stay and short of
liposuction there's no cure for cellulite. God's blessings.

Your doc sounds like a quack to me. There is no way to "spot
reduce." Whatever you do, you will probably always have some excess
weight in your bottom and legs. That's probably just the way you are
built. I'm 13 months post-op and still have adominal flab. This has
always been my problem and it's no different now.

You certainly are smart to question this guy. Celluloid is a plastic
material. And the rolling pin thing sounds really 'out there'! It doesn't
make any sense. This just goes to show us that we shouldn't believe
everything our doctors tell us. We should all *listen* to what they say
and research it ourselves, like you did.
