Things I wish I would have done before surgery include: (1) take off some
weight ... even 15 lbs. or so!, (2) exercise my tummy muscles (I ended up
with a hernia), (3) get more spiritually in tune. Don't take aspirin
before surgery unless advised by your doc. It can cause serious
complications.

SWIM. Call the local YMCA and get a membership. You can apply for finicial
help there too. I pay $25 a month so I can swim. It will be less stress on
your legs and it will excercise all the muscles. You will NEED your muscles
toned for getting in/out of bed going potty and walking down the hall. Even
if you were having surgery the day after tomorrow I'd swim tomorrow. It is
worth it.
