Depends on who you are, everyone has a diff. experience.

Hi Marla, The best answer I can give you, is to be patient with yourself.
I wanted to be "normal" NOW and it only made the time harder.
Everyone heals at a different rate and our emotional make-up has a lot to
do with recovery too. I always thought if I had a job I could have gone
back to, I would have bounced back faster because there would have been
other things to think of and a place to go every day. I started feeling
better about four weeks. By eight weeks, I felt wonderful. In my opinion,
when we can quit playing the mind games, everything goes much more easily.
Good luck!

I felt well enough to return to a full-time office position 8 days post-op
lap RNY. However, I certainly tired easily and was generally sore for
about 2 weeks post-op. I remember telling my surgeon, at my 3-week post-op
visit, that that day was the first day that I had felt "back to
normal". Everyone has different tolerances to pain and activity. Let
your body tell you when it's ready to move ahead, and give yourself plenty
of time for adequate rest and sleep post-op. Good luck!

I had surg dec 6 2001 and now its march and i'm finally starting to feel
really good and like doing more things and more "up to par". I
still get sick from time to time and Sunday i almost threw up right in the
restaurant. I WAS TOOOO EMBARASSED. Prob my fault. I think I ate too
much. But anyhow, each day is an experience. Putting foods i loved in the
past is not always easy but when now that im seeing the results..its worth
it.

i felt great my 2nd day post op (3rd day in hosp) & wanted to go home
(5 hours away) but my doc said no because i hadnt tested my new pouch with
pureed food. the next day i was brought farina for breakfast & a pureed
something or other for lunch & my doc discharged me 2 hours later.
except for the normal 'tiring out quickly' i have not had a bad day yet.
then again, i am probably the odd ball. i have had numerous surgeries over
the last 32 years & have always bounced back the day after surgery.
