Question:
Is there anyone who has had a combination surgery including gastric bypass and tummy
tuck at the same time? I am looking for more information about it, as my surgeon has suggested it for me. — Michelle M. (posted on February 17, 2002)

Its GENERALLY better to wait for the TT untill after the big loss since you
will have more hanging skin post op that may need remved. Besides both are
major surgeries, why do it all at once? This advice from my surgeon.

Michelle, I read your profile and saw that you have a very high BMI. Your
surgeon may be talking about getting rid of some of the fat and skin in
your apron now. If it hangs very low, it would just get worse as you lose
weight and might cause other problems. Typically, that would be skin
rashes or infections, back pain and possibly it would impede your ability
to walk. Just some speculation on my part.

I had my apron removed with WLS. I did it mostly due to financial reasons
as I was self pay. I knew I wouldn't be able to afford another surgery and
this was I already paid for the hospital and anesthesia and just had an
extra 3500 for the surgeon. So far I am very happy with the results,
starting at 311 and down to 183 in 9 months! Good luck!

I had both done at once. I had very good results. I was able to walk
better and longer right after surgery than i was able to before. I went
from 340 down to 220 in six months and have no hanging tummy at all.
