Question:
I am thinking about a revision from VBG to RNY. Need surgeon in NJ area.
Had my vbg 1/2000. Lost only about 80 pounds, need to lose 100 more at least. Vbg was at U of Penn Hosp. I was not pleased with their care.Tried Dr. Greebaum, but he says he no longer does VBG's or revisions. I have lost nothing new for the last year. Have gained & lost the same 15 pounds a few times. Any suggestions? Have had all the testing possible and everything is as it should be. Still can't eat much and still vomit & have severe pain and Horrendous belching at times that lasts for hours. Thanks. — marilyn P. (posted on February 13, 2002)

Hello! I would suggest Dr. Elliott Goodman. He has an office in the
Bronx, Ny and also in NJ.
I wanted to use him....I had really good feelings about it...but he was not
a participating surgeon with my insurance. However, I can tell you that
even though I was never a patient or even seen by this doctor...he answered
numerous emails from me...and was very quick to respond. He just really
seems to care! I got really, really good impressions with him just through
email. I know he has a web site online for his office in the Bronx at
Montefiore Hospital. I don't know if he is online with his NJ office. You
can get his info by clicking on the "Find a Doc" link on this
page. Search under NY and he is the first on the list. (Dr. Elliott
Goodman)
Good luck!

I used Dr. Gus Slotman at Cooper Hospital. He was great. I don't know
whether or not he does revisions but it couldn't hurt to ask. You can get
information about him at this site. Lots of rave reviews from his patients.
I see you are in Mt. Holly. Dr. Boynton at Memorial also does the RNY. My
friend used him and has all good things to say. Again, I do not know
whether he does the revision. Good luck!

I'm not sure what part of New Jersey you want but I just had my surgery at
Englewood Hospital in Englewood. It's northern New Jersey. The Dr. is Dr.
Ibraham. Also, Hackensack Hospital does the surgery. The Dr. is Dr.
Schmidt. Englewood is cutting back but the Dr. is great.

I haven't had surgery yet, but have Dr. Kamelgard at UMDNJ in Newark. He
is excellent!! Has been in the obesity surgery world for a while and is
proficient at the lap and the open. He is also head of the Public
Education Awareness committee for the Association of Bariatric Surgeons.
He also has a great website. Feel free to email me and I can give you the
address.
