Question:
Why do eat only liquids for the first month
This is my first post. I had a lap band done on Jan 15. The dr said i would not be hungry but I am. After the firt 2 weeks everything must have healed or something and now I am hungry. Is there something work with me. — Janna K. (posted on February 8, 2002)

Hi Janna - I am three weeks post op and I have found that there were days
that I was really really hungry at times. I found that soup makes me more
hungry and that after 10 minutes after eating it I feel hungry again. I
have been eating Farina (cream of wheat) I mix it with milk so that it is
watered down and then eat a little bit of it without drinking anything. It
makes me feel full for a very very long time. I also found that frozen low
sugar/fat yogurt from tcby works also. There are other times throughout
the day that I am not hungry at all but sometimes I do get hungry. Good
luck - Michele M

Yeah, eating liquids would make anyone hungry. When I'm hungry, I try to
fill up on solid proteins such as chicken, but if you're doctor won't let
you have those yet, try milk or another high-protein type drink. It should
fill you up better than a carb choice.

It seems like all our dr.'s are different.... i was eating soft solids in
the hospital, like fish filet, brocholi, I am not a dr. but maybe you could
try some cottage cheese, or string cheese these are soft and should go down
ok, but check w/ your dr.
