Question:
I Need Help.....I have a small hernia in the belly button area..
Ok, I am almost at 2 Years Post-op, Just found out I have a small hernia in the belly button area, I want to have it repaired and also see about getting a Tummy Tuck, can anyone help me and tell me how I go about getting it done, Do I have to call my insurance co and let them know? Can I pick a surgeon? or do I have to use the one that my PCP chooses? I already spoke with a Plastic Surgeon, and found out he works side-by-side with a surgeon, (get the picture), Oh yeah I had Lap RYN on April 24th 2000, started 253, I weigh 123 down 130!!!! Thanks for any and all help, I have Aetna US Healthcare. AnnMarie Ward — AnnMarie W. (posted on January 30, 2002)

I have an HMO. I found a plastic surgeon in my medical group, went to my
PCP, and told him I wanted a referral to the surgeon. Got it, and then
went to see the surgeon, who did my hernia repair, abdominoplasty and
breast lift. -Kate-

When I had my first VBG in 1991 I developed a hernia. I went to my PCP and
got a referral to the surgeon.. who scheduled surgery and I had it.. The
hernia repair does not normally require preappoval as it needs to be
fixed.. they can be dangerous. I then had the doc cut off my lose skin..
abdominalplasty. Good luck to you.. dont put the surgery off too long....
