Question:
Has anyone ever had a doctor suggest skim milk only for 4 weeks?
Hi guys, I'm still pre-op for another two weeks, and I heard from someone that my surgeon requires us to be on only skim milk for 4 weeks. I'm not sure if this is true or not yet...but I was wondering if anyone else has had these requirements or know's someone who has? Thanks a bunch! — Jennifer M. (posted on January 27, 2002)

I just went to a pre-op nutrition class today. During the liquid phase of
the post-op diet, they reccommend drinking one cup of low fat or skim milk
for each meal. Remember, this is just for the phase when you are still on
clear liquids. Milk does provide some nutrition and you're really not
getting much if you're just drinking water, tea and broth. Also, people
who were not lactose intolerant can be after the surgery. If you are
lactose intolerant, you would most likely not drink milk at all.
