Question:
Will I still have upset tummy
When Im stressed or nervous I'll get a nausiated feeling in my stomach. Will I still get that in my old stomach, or a upset feeling in my new pouch due to stress. Thanks — Geralyn (posted on January 11, 2002)

Good question! I am seven weeks post RNY and let me tell you: nothing
changes! It is still the same old feeling you had before surgery. I had
an instance where I had to give a talk in front of a lot of people post op
and I had the same 'butterflies' I had before. It was actually a good
feeling to know that that part of me was the same! Amy

I hate to say this but after 18 year with a gastroplasty I still get
nauseated or cannot eat anything if I'm at all upset or excited. Also I
have to be careful of the order in which I eat my food. Corn ALWAYS comes
last and absolutly no ice cream or pudding (anything with creamy or foamy
consistency) anytime during the day if I have eaten anything at all or plan
to eat that day. Weird huh.

Yep, I'm with everyone else. 7 yrs post-op RNY, and I still
"feel" emotions in my pouch. Car pulls out in front of me and it
grabs. Something upsets me and it "twists" , just like it always
did. Maybe I should've asked my doc to cut the cord to the emotions while
he was in there, huh?

Yep, the new stomach feels just like the old one except that I, too, am now
completely unable to eat if I am upset, angry, anxious or stressed in any
way. I have learned thru painful experience to simply wait & eat later.
