Question:
Too much food?
I am 8 weeks post-op, yesterday. I started at 242# and am down only 32#. My question is... am I eating too much? An average meal is 4 oz. meat and 1/2 c. veggies. I feel full but not overfull to the point of vomiting after a meal like this. I eat 3-4 times a day. Im getting in approximately 700-800 calories, 70g protein, 15g of carbs a day, and 48-64 oz. of h2o a day. I have been reading, and many post-ops, at 8 weeks, cant eat half of this amount of food. Am I out of control? I didnt realize Id be able to eat this much this soon. Im kind of worried. Any comments appreciated! Thanks! — Kerry P. (posted on December 12, 2001)

You sound like you're doing great. I was also able to eat about 3-4 oz of
food at 8wks and now at 5mos. I'm down 78lbs and I too feel like I can eat
too much. I don't get sick like I thought I would and it seems like I can
eat more than I should be able to but I have lost a good bit of weight and
am hoping it will continue as I'm sure it will for you. Keep doing what
you're doing and I think you'll be just fine.

You are doing super! Try getting more water, you should be getting 64 oz +!
Also remember that you started off pretty light compared to many people on
this site, so that usually means you will lose a lot slower. :( Which sucks
I know! :) But congratulations on your loss and keep up the great work!

I can definitely relate to your concern. At 7 1/2 weeks I had only lost 27
pounds and I started at a much higher weight than you. I was depressed for
two weeks. My food intake was very similar although I drink more water.
At 11 1/2 weeks I was down 42 pounds - 15 pounds in 4 weeks! My doctor was
thrilled and so was I. Hang in there!! You know you can't maintain your
existing weight on that number of calories. It's easy to get discouraged
when you read how fast some others are losing weight. Just keep doing the
right things and you'll lose the weight.

You are about where I was at that time. It sounds like you are doing fine
to me. I started at 238 and 7 months later am 155, down 83 pounds! I know
some lose faster than that, but a LOT of us don't. Your're doing great!
