Question:
I'm 7 months post op RNY, in a 6 hour period I drank 100 ounces of water
Is this normal? Is this too much? Please advise. — [Anonymous] (posted on November 28, 2001)

I don't see why it would hurt you as long as you don't drink until you
hurt.... Then you would be strecthing things out. I assume you can eat a
decent amount??? Then go for it!

Please, I can drink 32 ounces in less than an hour with no problem. I
could probably do 100 ounces in 2-3 hours. I'm 5 months post.

Do you drink this much all the time? Or just once? Were you extremely
thirsty? 100 oz. in six hours seems like a lot to me. Are you also
urinating a lot? If so, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a checkup and a
test for diabetes. I don't want to scare you, but that is how I was
diagnosed. I happened to casually mention to my doc how I was able to drink
sooo much fluid, and how I was urinating all the time. He immediately did a
blood test and suddenly, I was a diabetic. You didn't mention any other
symptoms, but if you have any, please consult your PCP. BTW, the only
reason I mention this is that a very high percentage of Americans with
diabetes are undiagnosed. Good luck!
