Question:
This may sound really rediculous...Can your skin absorb water when your body needs it

OK, here goes. I was wondering, if you're not drinking enough water each day as you should, and your body is needing more water, when you take a bath or go in a swimming pool or lake, does the body take in some of the water? If yes, then wouldn't that be bad, with all the soap or chemicals/pollutants in this water? I know this sounds silly, but I think the skin can absorb stuff, can't it?    — lalasmommy (posted on October 12, 2001)

Your body cannot absorb water from an outside source like a pool or tub, only through your mouth or IV. If that were the case, people would be afraid to go swimming or to take a bath in fear of balooning up. You have to drink your water, period.
