Question:
Can I still get a colonic cleansing after my wls surgery?
I haven't gotten a colonic cleansing yet but I have read about it and I'm very interested in it? I was thinking of getting one done before surgery. Can I still do it or will it be best to leave it alone due to any complications that(GOD forbid) it might cause? — dainty (posted on October 7, 2001)

One, colonic cleansers do nothing for you. They are up there with snake oil
and ear candles for useless quasi-medical treatments. I speak from
experience--waste doesn't get backed up in your system as you are lead to
believe. Its nothing more than an expesive enema. Two, I need to have a
colonoscopy done (family history of colon polyps) and my surgeon insists I
wait 3 months before having the procedure done. He wants to make sure I am
fully healed on the inside.

I totally agree with the second poster. Besides, after surgery prep your
poor ol' colon ain't gonna need any more "cleansing" for a
looooong time!

I have had colonic cleansing and I now believe they are great. What they
tell you about crud coating your colon (grandma's cookies still in there,
etc.) is real. I know. I saw it. I had more energy, felt better and overall
would recommend them. However, after my surgery I doubt I will do another
one. I'll be eating so little and eating so much healthier. Just my 2
cents. Alice
