Question:
Family history of various cancers, how does surgery affect ability to fight off?

Concerned about if future cancer arises will my body/system be up to the fight? specifically Chemo or radiation therapy? What concerns should I have about "Dormant" stomach??    — Gary C. J. (posted on February 22, 2004)

Cancer is ery common in MOs. Were your family members MO? WLS might help prevent the problem from occuring.

I used my family history of stomach cancer to help justify my need for the DS over the RNY -- with the DS, there is no "dormant" stomach inaccessible to endoscopy to worry about, just a smaller stomach having all the same, normal functions.
