Question:
HAS ANYONE HAD THE OPENING INTO THE INTESTINE DILATED POST OPEN RNY?
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE ARE COMPLICATIONS FROM THIS AND WHAT THE PROCEDURE IS LIKE. DOES IT NEED TO BE REPEATED? — Deborah K. (posted on March 17, 2000)

I was scoped on March 2 and it was nothing!!!! They scoped me because I
was very nauseous and could not keep anything down. Come to find out my
stoma was almost closed. The whole procedure was they put me in a bed and
gave me a IV. When they strolled me into the room the first thing I asked
the Dr. was if i should be scared :), of course he said no!!!!! The Dr.
sprayed this stuff in the back of my throat (DOES NOT TASTE TO GOOD) but it
was manageable, the next thing I knew the nurse gave me something to make me
sleepy and I was out of it!!! I woke up about 30 mins later and felt
great, of course groggy but I felt no pain whatsoever!!! I went home and
that was it. Gotta love that anesthesia. Some people have to be scoped
more than once, but not everyone. Anyways I hope this helps!!! Good
Luck!!

Yes, I had the proceedure done 6 times before the opening stayed open. It
is not a bad proceedure, the worst part for me was the drugs they gave me
knocked me out the entire day! other than that it is a piece of cake! jenae
