Question:
Does anyone else bite the inside of their mouth when they chew?
I almost always have a sore from having bitten the inside of my mouth when chewing and I seem to always bite the same spot 2-3 times a day. OUCH! — Kelly H. (posted on May 12, 2004)

YES YES YES, I notice it mostly happens at my wisdom teeth, so first chance
I get...I am yanking those bad boys out! Fortunately, the mouth heals
quickly. Good luck and safe chewing.

P.S. Just a thought - maybe this is happening to us because we are chewing
more? Things that make you think...

Hi Kelly,
Yea I most definitely have the same problem. I am thinking that after
we have lost weight our jaws are more sunk in and that is why this is
happening. I am 10 months post op and down 120 pounds. You can really see
it in my face because I do not have those fat plump jaws. Just a thought!

Interesting question, I once read that this happens more in the warmer
months (to a lot of people) than in cooler months. I have to find the
article and forward it, but I cannot agree that it is because of my weight
lose. It has happened to me many times during certain seasons.

Try gargling with warm salt water before you go to sleep. It really helps.

Now that you mention it. YES, I frequently find myself biting myself while
eating. My hubby told me yesterday, quit smacking your food. I said I just
bit my cheek and by smacking (chewing loud food with mouth open) I am less
likely to rebite myself. This has just all started much more frequently
since my 75 lb. weight loss. And I definitely had a fat face. There is alot
more cheek skin since the fat is gone. What a good question....
