Question:
I read something a while back that someone posted and can not find an answer in the
question page. Is it true or not that excess gas can cause your pouch to stretch? I know this probably sounds like a stupid question but anyway I was just curious. THanks for your response and God BLess :) — Myrna E. (posted on February 4, 2004)

I doubt it would cause your pouch to strech, when I have a fountain drink,
I usualy burp,so the air isnt trapped in my tummy, the gas has 2 choices
out your mouth, or travel through your instines and...:0) I am 9 months
post op and I still eat less than a half cup and I am satisfied (full).
That is my theory:0)And I dont feel as though mine has streched any.

My doctor says that gas will not cause stretching, only pain! I have found
that gas is much more painful now than it was previously. My pcp says this
is because the gas has less room to move around in. I also think I have
more gas than prior to surgery...a lot of foods give me gas now that used
to never bother me. LOL..sounds silly, but I get my husband to rub my
tummy or back, and burp me like a baby...this seems to help a lot! (He
says it makes him feel so useful, and now he knows, at this late age, that
he would have made a great father!..hahahaha)
