Question:
Why is it taking so long to get called for the surgery date after approval?

I'm quickly approaching a month since I've been approved on the 29th of April with still no end in sight of when I'll get a date. I've spoken to the person who schedules for my surgeon and said she has no idea when I'll get a date due to the sheer volume of people she deals with on a daily basis wanting not only this surgery but the many other types the Dr. Inman does. She's a very busy and highly skilled surgeon so I guess she'll be worth the wait. Anyone else having this same problem or have any insight? Thanks for your help!    — kathleen-Joan piper (posted on May 17, 2003)

Check your approval letter and see if there are only a number of days it is good for. Mine was ninety days. Then make the surgeons office aware of the time frame.

When my surgeon called me telling me I was approved, they also gave me my surgery date. You need to keep in mind that there are alot of tests that need to be done prior to surgery. I would keep bugging the office anyway. When they get tired of talking to you daily, they will set a date.

Just so everyone knows, it doesn't matter if your approval is just good for 90 days. I was told by the scheduler that she is able to work around that.
