Question:
2 months post op, down only 35lbs. IS this normal?

I started out at 277lbs at 5' 7". I have only lost 35lbs in 2 months. I eat over 60g of protein a day, about 800-900 calories a day and get close to my 64 oz. of water daily. Am I doing something wrong? I do walk my dog for about 2 miles daily. When I dont walk her, I am on my treadmill. Exercise about 5x a week. Any clue?    — Carla M. (posted on April 17, 2003)

35 pounds in 2 months is fantastic and it sounds like you are following 'the rules'. You started out a lightweight, so you will lose slower. I was not a lightweight and lost 49 pounds in 2 months so you are doing great.

You are doing great! I am a lightweight, started at 288 and at 2 mths post op was down to 262. I average 3.5lbs a week and just yesterday broke free from a dreaded plateau. It lasted 2 weeks and then yesterday my scale dropped a full 6lbs to make up for lost time I guess! I am now 3mths out and am down 51 lbs, so I have to say that your 35lbs lost is awesome. Keep doing what you're doing, it is definately working for you.

I was the same Carla. I'm at 5 months now and lost 80ish pounds. As long as you keep losing then you are going in the right direction. It seems slow now but it really adds up! I'm 5 months post-op and I lost as much as I have left to lose so my goal is very much within reach! So is yours. Keep plugging away sweetie :)

Be thankful for what you have - I am two months out this week and have lost 28 lbs. It is soooooo hard not to compare with others fast weight loss. I read and researched for months and KNEW that as a lightweight, I would most probably lose slow, b u t living it is another story. I am grateful for what I have lost. You are probably like me and a bunch of other post ops that are thinking - is this all I will lose???? I just got off of a two week plateau. Good luck to all of us, wherever we are in our journey!!
