Question:
Can someone please help???
I am almost 4 mos post op. Have had some complications. My family doc. sent me for a Upper GI today and there was a trickle from my pouch into my stomach. My surgeon said he hand sews the whole procedure. Maybe there is a few staples. I am not sure. I have only lost 54 lbs. What are the chances of food being able to get through. I don't really get hungry physically, only mentally. I do the small portions. but feel like I could eat more. I had pnemonia and have coughed for 3 mos. Could that have pulled it loose? Will it grow back together? Please someone give my some advice. I feel so hopeless right now. thanks Sherri — Sherri H. (posted on March 4, 2003)

54 pounds is definately nothing to be ashamed of!!!! WAY TO GO!!! Remember
each person loses at a dif rate. I was told that the stomach does not form
scar tissue like many other organs so I dont know if it will heal by its
self or not. I would not think so especially if it has a near constant
trickle of liquids going through it. One of the reasons drink lots of
liquids is to help us feel full between meals. I have noticed that it does
help. So even if no food can fit through right now, you are losing part of
your tool. Whats to say it wont open further. Im not sure if coughing
could have done it or not. I remember when I had a c-section with my
oldest, I coughed like crazy and tore out 4 stapes in my stomach...so I
would think it is possible. What did your Dr say?? Did he mention
revision? I would def get more info from the surgeon.like what are the
chances it could close on its own? How will this effect your weight
loss...ect. You can tell them you want the leak repaired.
