Question:
7 1/2 weeks post-op and nothing except liquids stays down...
I need help. I am 7 1/2 weeks post op and down 50lbs, but nothing seems to stay down. The only things I can eat are things I can't stomach any more, ie: jello, yogurt, broth, pudding. Anyone have any other suggestions as to what I could eat until this phase passes. — Angela C. (posted on July 5, 2002)

Angela, First thing congatulations on the Weight loss. Second, Have you
contacted your doctor about the problem? There could be something mediclly
wrong. Third, I know with me the reason I get sick is eating too fast.
With all that said, I found that soft cheeses (cream cheese with veggies on
favored melba toat, low-fat, favored Hummus on melba toast, cheese and
peanut butter crackers (the bright orange ones), and refried beans have
been pretty easy on my new pouch.
Now I'm able to tolerate, shrimp, tuna, salad, nuts, soft scrambled egg.
Basically things with more protein. I haven't tried meats like chicken,
beef, or pork.

At 7 1/2 weeks you should be able to tolerate a lot more than what you say
you can. You need to contact your surgeon about this. You could possibly
have a stricture.

I would ask my surgeon to check for a stricture of the opening from the
stomach to the intestines...that means a tightening. If it is too small no
food will be allowed past the stomach. I hope you get an answer that will
help...good Luck

Angela, Please check with your surgeon because I experienced the same
problems and I had a stricture. I was 3 wks. post, had a scope with
dilation on June 18, did fine for ten days, started the same pattern again
and needed my second scope/dilation on July 3. I feel like a new person now
as I'm having no problems. Everything stays down and everything looks and
tastes great. I hope this helps. I'll be 7 wks tomorrow, down 60 lbs.
